Right, where were we?

I don't want to get bogged down in commenting on what happened in the USA in the last few weeks, there are plenty more folks more qualified than me to discuss that in a more in-depth manner. However, if you want a non in-depth discussion from a non-qualified person, then let me just say...there should be some long lasting consequences for Trump.

It is also up to the media, specifically the non-US media, to stop talking about Donald Trump. He's not going to run again for President. He's no longer relevant to the daily news cycle and his views and opinions should not be sought by journalists. Sure, I'm not naive enough to believe that the likes of Fox and the usual suspects on the conservative side of things won't take his call if he rings in, or interview him on what's going on, but the rest of the media should be ignoring him. Full stop. Period. No ifs or buts. 

He is no longer relevant.

And in keeping with my own wishes, that's the end of Donald Trump for me.

It's been a long fucking 15 months and the bullshit we have to listen to isn't going away. The one thing that has got many people through this COVID time is the calm and reassuring words from experts. Here in Victoria, we had the very switched on Brett Sutton and Allen Cheng fronting the almost daily Press Conferences held by Premier Dan Andrews. The Premier would give us the stats and then discuss the current situation before turning the questions and "details" over to either Professor Sutton or Cheng to be the expert in the room. It was reassuring and they didn't talk down to us as can be the trap many politicians fall in to. Shag who you want, so long as they want it too. Now we've got THAT out of the way, how about we address the ACTUAL issue of these sexual issues in our Parliaments. You simply can't engage in these activities with people over whom you hold an unfair and unchallengable position of power. I'm not even sure I worded that correctly, but it's really not that hard of a concept. If you can get someone sacked but yourself remain safe and untouchable, keep your hands to yourself! Yes, Minister...*sigh* Women have a hard enough time getting into politics as it is without being put into compromising positions, simply because they are subordinates to a member of the Government. Questioning Religion

The fundamental problem with religion is that it stifles inquisitiveness and learning, instead thrusting the worshipper into a world of blind acceptance.  I once had a pair of Jehovah's Witnesses come to my door and engage in trivial small talk which was no doubt a lead in to their usual sales pitch. One of them, a reasonably elderly lady for whom my concerns lay on how she made it up the hill of my street in the first place, started commenting on my, at the time, reasonably healthy looking garden. "That plant right there," she pointed to a lush looking Kangaroo Paw, "Have you ever wondered how it got there?" "Yes," I replied. "I planted it."
